''Shootenanny!'' is a 2003 studio album by Eels. The name comes from a neologism coined by Eels frontman Mark Oliver Everett for "a social gathering at which participants engage in folk singing and sometimes dancing [a ''hootenanny''], but mostly the shooting of guns."
"Saturday Morning" was released as a promotional single with the B-sides "Her", "Waltz of the Naked Clowns" and "Sad Foot Sign". - Wikipedia
Mark Oliver Everett, AKA Mr. E, head Eel and the band's songwriter, has done it again, turning in another acerbic masterwork full of dark humor, seductive melodies and high intelligence. In a business driven by blockbusters and mindless songs about meaningless love, the Eels provide something to chew on for all the oddballs and miscreants looking for something that's a bit more than skin deep. "All In a Day's Work" is a modern day reworking of Willie Dixon's "Hoochie Coochie Man," that lets you know just how people look at eccentric individuals in 2003, "Dirty Girl" celebrates the joys of profanity without using any, a nice touch, "Rock Hard Times" laments the narrow-minded world view of Hollywood, and the hypocrites who live next door, while "Love of the Loveless," "Agony" and "Restraining Order Blues" all paint sympathetic portraits of the lost, lonely, wounded souls that make up the majority of humankind.
