Todd Solondz's controversial pitch-black satire is divided into two different stories. In "Fiction," a college creative writing student (Selma Blair), who is dating a fellow student with cerebral palsy, has a torrid romantic interlude with her black, Pulitzer Prize-winning teacher (Robert Wisdom). Next, "Non-Fiction" finds a nerdy, struggling actor (Paul Giamatti) deciding to make a documentary about a neurotic high school senior and his nouveau riche Jewish family.
